First Wednesday Wine Tastings at GlouGlou

Our tastings, led by one of the Glou Crew or Iron & Rose team, will introduce you to new wines, tell you the stories behind them, informing and we hope entertaining you!
These tutored tastings take place every first Wednesday of the month (except January), each follows a different theme, and the ticket price includes some food from the Glou kitchen to keep your stamina up.
The themes for 2026 are below but watch out for more food and wine events through the rest of each month and special "meet the maker" evenings when we welcome a wine grower or a farmer or food producer and often all three at once to talk about what they do.
February - Vino Amore: celebrating the Venice Carnevale and the wines of Northern Italy
March - Mother Nature: spring, new beginnings, working with nature, and International Women's Day
April - Costa: Mediterranean Spain and Roussillon
May - Rivers: tales from the riverbank vineyards of the world
June - Think Pink: rosé, rosado, rosat, rosato
July - An Andean Adventure: the wines of South America
August - Ferragosto: escape on an Italian adventure
September - Volcanic: power and grit
October - Zentral: wines from Central Europe
November - Keep it classy: modern classics and rediscovered treasures
December - Christmas Crackers: all killers, no fillers
Tickets are £39.50 each which includes generous pours of five wines accompanied by a few delicious, wine friendly snacks from the Glou Kitchen. These tastings are held at Glou Glou, 17a Castle Gates in Shrewsbury, starting at 7pm and finishing by 9pm. However, the bar is open from 4 - 10pm so there's plenty of time for another glass.
