Vino Di Anna, Bianco, Sicily, Italy
Anna Martens and Eric Narioo have been making wines on the side of Mt Etna since 2008, their wines reflect the individual terroir and are completely biodynamic. Anna and Eric also help protect and farm the rare Sicilian black bee. The vineyards are located on different Contrada (historic lava flows) and all grapes are tended to by hand with minimum intervention. A truly natural wine making approach creating super, natural wines.
This is a field blend of indigenous grapes grown on two of Anna's vineyards; 'Vigna Nave on the north-western side of Mt Etna where the soils are grey volcanic sand and the vines are grown biodynamically; and the Carricante is grown organically on the eastern slopes where the soil is deep, dark grey/black volcanic sand. Both vineyards are hand harvested and direct pressed as whole bunches into a large, used wooden cask. Fermentation was conducted with indigenous yeasts, bas well as undergoing malolactic fermentation before being left on the lees for 11 months.
Plenty of citrus aromas with white peach and dried pear. High acidity, with plenty of minerality. Will develop well with age.
