Vignobles Bulliat was created in 1978 by Noël Bulliat when, on leaving viticultural school, he bought 4 hectares of vineyard, although his family has been growing vines in the region since the 1700s. He was joined by his son Loïc in 2005 and they now farm 14 hectares across the Beaujolais region.
Loïc was instrumental in converting all their farming to organic and they now make the kind of wines we love - pure and expressive of place, with clean farming, respectful of the environment, at their core.
This wine is from vineyards in the commune of Morgon which has the reputation of producing the most "serious" Beaujolais and you could hang on to this for a few years to see how it aged but, as with Bulliat's other wines, it is a pitch perfect Gamay with a beautiful balance of fruit, acidity and structure.
Drink it with some gougères (a savoury cheesy chop bun, yum) or something a bit meaty.
