Vignobles Bulliat was created in 1978 by Noël Bulliat when, on leaving viticultural school, he bought 4 hectares of vineyard, although his family has been growing vines in the region since the 1700s. He was joined by his son Loïc in 2005 and they now farm 14 hectares across the Beaujolais region.
Loïc was instrumental in converting all their farming to organic and they now make the kind of wines we love - pure and expressive of place, with clean farming, respectful of the environment, at their core.
This wine is called Bibine, which means booze in French, but while it is incredibly drinkable, it is also wonderfully complex and layered. It is a blend from different sites, 100% Gamay, with aromas of strawberries, lavender and sage on the nose, red fruits on the palate with a lovely touch of herbs, dusty earth and a touch of that delicious Gamay crunch.
We would happily drink this a little chilled with a plate of cheese or some barbecued chicken.
