Valdibella, Isolano, Catarratto Extra Lucido, Sicily, Italy

Valdibella is a cooperative mixed farm that works with organic growers promoting biodiversity across their farmland and has an active focus on social impact through the 'Jonathan' project that reaches out to help disadvantaged members of the community as well as the Adiopizzo anti-mafia movement. They produce wine, wheat and pasta, almonds and oil, vegetables and legumes, grown on hillsides around Camporeale, 35km southwest of Palermo.

This wine is made from an ancient and rare Sicilian varietal called Catarratto Extra Lucido which has a very thin, almost translucent skin, grown by co-op members, the Solano family. Delicate and floral yet textural and zesty.

How - Organic, destemmed, cold soak for 12 hours before spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks and concrete, 6-8 months maturing on lees, minimal sulphur/additions, vegan
