Staffelter Hof, Kiss Kiss Maddies Lips, Pet Nat, Mosel, Germany
I could talk about how wine has been made at Staffelter Hof since 862, however I think we’d all like to hear more about Gerd Kleine’s glorious and magnificent moustache! It seems to own his face and command attention as all great moustaches should, I want to stare at it just a little too long!
I digress... Wine has been grown at Staffelter Hof for millennia however it has been in the current family since the 17th century and 4 generations of Kleine’s now reside there. Gird and his moustache take care of the vines and his son Jan Matthias who specialised in wine marketing and business administration is the new driving force. 2011 saw the move to organic viticulture and with that they are producing serious award winning wines as well as curve balls... yet more things that make you stop and stare a little too long!
Kiss kiss Maddies lips is a spirited petillant rosé that holds bags of colour, punchy red fruit notes and strong bubbles, no matter where you look up this wine everyone is in agreement, it’s a belter of a summers day guzzler.
