This wine is a collaboration between Theresa Breuer (from top Rheingau estate, Georg Breuer) and Indigo wine as a part of their Salt of the Earth range on their mission to craft wines that offer a true reflection of its terroir and Riesling is a grape variety that does just that.
The grapes are sourced from two vineyards in Lorch, the westernmost village in Rheingau. Both vineyards, Krone & Kapellenberg are farmed sustainably with organic principles and are cool, south-west facing sites on steep slopes between 150-180m above sea level. Krone has slatey soils whilst Kapellenberg's are more quartzite. Everything is handpicked and vinified separately, with Kapellenberg's crop fermented in steel while Kron's is fermented in 1200L neutral German oak barrels. The wine is then aged on its lees for ten months in barrel.
It's a crisp, laser-cut riesling with lemony acidity and stony minerality that work together in perfect synergy.
