Manduria is the home of Primitivo and has been recognised as such since the 70's, this co operative, Produttori di Manduria has an extra 40 years of experience, working with Primitivo since the 1930's and clearly masters of Puglia's most famous grape. These Primitivo grapes come from 35+ year old vines which have been grown in the espalier system meaning the grapes are trained to grow against a flat surface, such as a trellis or wall and they are harvested by hand. This wine has no oak treatment and as such is lighter and more youthful than some primitivo, yet it still packs an intensely fruity hit of plum, blackberry and ripe cherry.
