Partida Creus, XL Xarel-lo Ancestral, Catalunya, Spain

Ex-architects Massimo Marchiori and Antonella Gerosa moved from Piedmont, Northern Italy to Catalonia to grow fruits and vegetables. They started Partida Creus in 2001 after struggling to find quality natural wine in the area. 

Unlike many producers nearby planting mainstream varieties, Massimo and Antonella took a chance on small parcels of relatively unknown old vines of regional varieties. They farm without the use of chemicals and using sustainable practices, inspiring neighbouring vineyards to do the same. 

Described as a 'serious Pet-Nat' this sparkling wine has a deliciously rich and structured character. Made entirely from the Xarel-lo grape- commonly used in Cava production. You'll find flavours of apple skin and candied lemon. It's funky!
