Kamptal is an increasingly well respected wine growing region 50km or so north of Vienna, a long, steep sided whale-back hill where terraced vineyards catch the sun and the sparse and varied soils help produce some truly world class white wines.

Nibiru is a collaboration between young wine growers Julia Nather and Josef Schenter, who aim to make wines that speak for themselves, using organic and biodynamic practices in the vineyards and minimal intervention in the cellar: wild yeast fermentations, very little or no sulphur, no fining or filtration.

The name Nibiru is derived from a mythical planet identified in Sumerian culture as orbiting the sun every 3600 years and travelling in the opposite direction to all others. Definitely doing its own thing, a principle Julia and Josef subscribe to.

This wine is a dry Riesling, concentrated and ripe with wonderful aromatics, lovely fruit and touches of herb. Drink it with fresh water fish, seafood or some sushi or sashimi.
