Marabino means 'land of the beloved sun' and is a project run by Pierpaolo Messina in the southeastern most tip of Sicily, Val di Noto. He has 30 hectares of vineyards divided into 18 distinctive parcels according to their soil types, but all within a few kilometres of the Ionian Sea, whose cooling coastal breeze relieves the vines from the intense Sicilian sun and retains fresh acidity found through each of his wines.

The Soleggiato is an intriguing one... 100% moscato Bianco spontaneously fermented with the skins in stainless steel then undergoes 30 months ageing in different sized barrels, before perpetual ageing in stainless steel with previous vintages with the final process of being left out in the scorching Sicilian sun in glass demijohns for a year.

The result is complex, nutty and dangerously delicious.
