Majella, Cabernet Sauvignon, Coonawarra, Australia
Majella was established and planted by co-owner Brian Lynn, originally a sheep farmer now a grape grower too! The land's been in use for five generations, mainly raising sheep. This is a true family business, with the next generation currently working in and around the winery. Brian works alongside Senior Winemaker Bruce Gregory, Bruce has been involved in every drop of commercial wine production for Majella.
Majella is situated on the edge of the famous Coonawarra strip, farming on 60 hectares of land. 55% is planted Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% to Shiraz and the remainder to Merlot and Riesling. The climate is exposed to a 'maritime climate', with dry and cool summers. Known as the 'Terra Rossa' of Coonawarra in Australia's most famous soil, known for its closeness with Cabernet Sauvignon.
This amazing Majella is powerful and intense, rich with plum fruit flavours. Aged in French Oak for 18 months, it has distinctive flavours of mint and eucalypt, and heavenly fruit cake elements. Easily paired with red meats, you could even keep this one in the cellar for further aging.
