The Maçanita siblings have worked together in over 14 wineries across their home nation of Portugal so it was only natural for them to start a project of their own where they could channel everything they'd learned along the way as well as counter the practices of the norm that they disagreed with. They began Maçanita Vinhos in 2011 with aim of exhibiting the vast diversity of terroir of the Douro valley.
Cima Corgo offers a slightly cooler continental climate than the rest of the Douro and is where some of the highest quality, single quinta ports are made. This climate brings a more jovial, floral and fresher expression of Touriga Nacional than what you might expect from the rest of the Douro. The wine is matured in a combination of stainless steel and neutral oak barrels for 14 months, giving a raw expression of the grape that the siblings claim you might never have experienced before.
