La Biancara, Angiolino Maule, Masieri Bianco, Veneto, Italy

La Biancara is a project by Angiolino & Alessandro Maule, one of the pioneers of natural winemaking, totally organic in the vineyards, minimal manipulation in the cellar, just looking for the pure expression of place. And the place is in the Colli Berici, a hilly area of the Veneto in Northern Italy with volcanic soils.
The Masieri Bianco is mostly Garganega which is the variety used to make Veneto's famous Soave. The grapes are destemmed and fermented spontaneously with indigenous yeasts in steel followed immediately by malolactic fermentation. The wine is unfiltered and just a little SO2 is added at bottling depending on the lot. Expect green apples and hay on the nose followed by peach and plenty of citrus on the palate with a herbal touch and great volcanic minerality and acidity.
