FARM: Hacienda Santa Luz
REGION: Matagalpa
ALTITUDE : 700-900 MASL
VARIETAL : H3
PROCESS : Natural

Hacienda Santa Luz was acquired in 2003 as an abandoned lot, with a long-term vision to re-establish coffee production through a more sustainable approach.

The farm has since been replanted with a diverse mix of varieties, including Pink Bourbon, SL28 and Centroamericano, alongside the development of a fully integrated operation, with all stages including export managed on site.

An ecological processing plant helps reduce environmental impact, while 30 hectares are preserved as protected forest. Of the total land, 105 hectares are suitable for coffee cultivation.

As a Rainforest Alliance certified farm, expansion is carefully balanced with environmental stewardship, supported by the introduction of higher-yielding and disease-resistant varieties.

Located in the mountains of Matagalpa, the farm benefits from a distinct microclimate. Ricardo Herrera brings extensive operational experience from Colombia and Costa Rica, while Marco Tulio Gonzalez, with a background in industrial engineering and an MBA, contributes a systems-led approach to processing and quality management.
