Finca Casa Balaguer, El Carro de la Mata, Alicante, Spain

Regulars at GlouGlou may remember this from back in the day? It was an orange that never failed and was the entry orange wine to so many of our converted followers. We're glad to get it back and looking forward to trying this again.

El Carro is the name of a small vineyard of 50 year old Moscatel vines within the La Mata natural park in Torrevieja.

The grapes are hand harvested with 70% of the grapes being de stemmed and 30%  fermented in Amphorae as whole bunches and spontaneously with local wild yeasts. The wine spends 30 days on the skins before being pressed and aging for a further 4 months in Amphorae. The wine is unfiltered, unfined and has no added sulphur.

Expect stone fruits, candied apricots, jasmine and orange peel with a saline finish.
