Familia Joan D’anguera, Les Maiols, Montsant, Spain

Familia Joan D’anguera has been one of, if not the biggest wine family in Darmós for several generations. Set up in 1820 by THE Joan D’anguera and growing through the generations to enable 7th generation sons, Josep and Joan to take the reins in 2000. Since then they have worked (and succeeded) to turn the winery in a more organic and biodynamic direction. They turned away from the old style Spanish reds that would knock your socks off with a big wallop of oak and instead create younger wines from whole bunch fermentation, indigenous yeast and wines that are unfiltered and unfined.

100% Garnacha from young vines growing on north facing slopes. Made in concrete & aged in large old French oak. Pale in colour but full in flavour. A red perfect for serving cool this summer.
