Domaine Dandelion, Sur La Plage 2023, Beaune, Burgundy, France

Native Burgundian, Morgane Seuillot and her partner, originally from Bondi, Christian Knott farm a couple of hectares of old-vines around the village of Meloisey in Beaune.
There are no machines used in the domaine's vineyards, only horses are used or where the vineyards are too steep, they are worked by hand. They choose to spray the vines with raw milk rather than sulphur and no pumping or filtration is used in the winery.
Their labels are made with paper from a nearby old-fashioned paper mill composed of cotton, linen, hemp and inserted bluet flowers. Morgane then stamps her own drawing of a bird and manually writes out the names before each label is applied by hand.
Sur la Plage (on the beach) is a new release for Domaine Dandelion taken from a single parcel grown on sandy soil. They vinified in the whole bunch infusion style for little over a week with no extraction, basket pressed to barrel and bottled without any additions. A juicy and soft pinot with low tannins and great length.
