Delaforce has been a name in Port production since the 1830’s and although the original family is no longer involved it is now owned and run by Real Companhia Velha, which has over 250 years of uninterrupted activity in the Port wine trade. This wine is a style for which they have a strong reputation. Tawny Port is kept in barrel for an extended period, in the case of this wine for ten years, which leads to a lighter colour, a softer palate, but no lack of flavour. While Port shouldn’t be just for Christmas, Christmas is a great excuse to open a bottle and the perfect opportunity to spend a bit of time relaxing with a glass of this deliciously sweet but complex wine. Tawny is the Iron & Rose preferred style of Port with Stilton or try it with Trefaldwyn, a wonderful new blue from just across the border from us in Montgomery in Powys.
