Daniel Ramos, El Berrakin Tinto, Sierra de Gredos, Spain

Raised in Australia, Daniel Ramos or Kapi to his friends returned to his Spanish motherland and has found a home making wines high in the Gredos mountains just outside Madrid. He works mostly with old bush vines of Albillo Real and Garnacha, making wines with minimal intervention despite hating the term yet and achieving great expressions of the Gredos.

His Tinto is an infusion style of Garnacha. A lighter expression, foot trodden and aged in stainless steel to focus on pure berry fruit and extracting minimal tannin with subtle floral and herbal notes. Best enjoyed young and perhaps a little chilled in the summer. Can't go wrong!
