Coto de Gomariz, The Flower and the Bee Souson, Ribeiro, Galicia, Spain

Ricardo Carreiro and winemaker, Xose Lois Sebio are producing wines from little known Galician varietals and here we have Souson. Grown in a little microclimate next to the Avia river with the Atlantic influence aiding them. Most wine from Galicia is white but the Flower and the Bee red is made from Souson, a local variety also grown over the border in Portugal. Sappy, juicy, deep in colour but light on its feet, it is great drinking over the spring and summer. Try it a little cool with some meaty fish, tuna is great, or with a barbecue or grill.
