La Ferme de Sept Lunes, Syrah, Northern Rhone, France
Jean Delobre is third generation winemaker at La Ferme de Sept Lunes, perched high up on a hill in St Joseph facing the cooling breeze from the South East. He has been practicing organic and biodynamic farming since 1997 and he is creating fresh wines with a real depth and pure, juicy.
The Sept Lunes farm is polycultural, with fields of grain, fruit trees, and everywhere wild flowers and grasses, a landscape bursting with biodiversity.
Each vineyard plot is treated and vinified individually to try to capture the characteristics of each site, even if in the end the wines produced on each will be blended together. This is 100% Syrah, fermented in open concrete tanks on skins for twenty days, part destemmed, part whole bunch, followed by around 8 months ageing in concrete. Result, a dark fruited, supple red that is full of life.
