Celler de Capcanes is a leading, innovative cooperative wine producer in the hills of the Catalan countryside. Focusing on helping its members farm with respect to the environment and crafting wines that truly express their unique vineyards and climate.

Cellar de Capçanes had been harvesting their collective vineyards and making wine for decades but, like a lot of coops, started struggling. Then two things happened which turned things round. Dynamic German winemaker Jurgen Wagner stumbled across them in the mid '90's, realised the wine world needed to try what they had, and never left. Then a lucky meeting with an American importer resulted in significant investment in the winery and vineyards, helping them to make the most of the natural bounty on their doorstep.

Mas Collet is a blend of Garnacha, local grape Samso (aka Cariñena), plus some Cabernet Sauvignon and a mix of other varietals. Aged for a few months in French and American oak barrels it is medium bodied with lovely ripe fruit flavours, gentle tannin, and that touch of oak coming through.
