Bodega Lanzaga, Corriente, Rioja, Spain
Telmo Rodriguez is one of Spain's great ambassadors for wines of place, wines which truly reflect the land, weather and people who made them. Telmo has made wine all round Spain but his home is Rioja: his family owns Bodegas Remelluri.
Bodega Lanzaga is a more recent project for Telmo, using grapes grown on vineyards around the village of Lanciego in the cooler, damper subregion of Rioja, Rioja Alavesa.
Corriente is an early 20th century term to describe good, approachable everyday wines drunk by ordinary people that reflect their region. Creamy and spicy with earthy tannins and a touch of oak, perfect with whatever you're cooking up this weekend.
