A'vita, Rosato, Calabria IGP, Italy

A'vita is a young project based in the wild, rolling hills of Ciro, Calabria, nestled between the Ionian Sea and the Sila mountains. They have four vineyards across eight hectares where they take great care and attention, favouring biodiversity through organic practices and minimal tilling to maintain soil diversity. They grow only grapes native to Calabria: Gaglioppo, Magliocco, Greco nero and Greco Bianco which give the best representation of their terroir.
As seen on Sunday brunch! As Luca from Passione Vino explains, this is far from the masses of cookie cutter, barbie pink rose you'll find in the supermarkets. Let this rosé transport you to the wild Calabrian coast with 100% indigenous Gaglioppo grapes sourced from their vineyards close to the sea, they are harvested at full maturity and undergo 12 hours of maceration on the skins followed by spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel before aging for several months in steel tanks. Expect aromas of wild strawberries and raspberries, and great freshness and minerality on the palate with gentle tannins. Great with rich and robust meat dishes like beef stew.
