Katja and Matjaz are a husband and wife team - an artist and a sculptor - who fell in love with winemaking after taking it up as a hobby.

Garizka Brda is just over the border from Italy, about an hour north of Trieste and sitting in the rolling hills at the foot of the dolomites. The warmth of the Adriatic aides the grapes in ripening, and the cooling influence of the mountains allows them to retain their acidity. 

This is a skin-contact wine (the traditional way of making wine in the region) and has heaps of textural complexity, a little tannin to keep things interesting, and tasty flavours of mandarin, pear and apricot.
