Artisan Vignerons de Náoussa, Skyphos Xinomavro, Náoussa, Greece
Artisans Vignerons de Naoussa is a union of growers that share the same passion in cultivating the variety of Xinomavro, in the scattered vineyards throughout the hills of Naoussa region. This partnership was created in order to promote the philosophy of sustainable viticulture and the results of its practices that are reflected into the wines produced. Under the same roof, with the condition of nothing but excellent raw material and as less interventions as possible during the vinification process the results can be nothing but excellent.
Grapes come from vineyards across the Macedonia region in northern Greece, cool breezes travel from the mountains slow ripening the grapes in the higher vineyards. Vines are between five and twenty years old and soils are a mix of sand and clay.
Xinomavro roughly translates as 'sour black' and is know for its high acidity, big tannins and elegant fruit, not dissimilar to Nebbiolo. The Skyphos brings refreshing berry fruit with savoury herbaceous notes and some earthy meaty qualities.
