Adega A Barouta is a project started in 2020 by Javier Alen, Daniel Landi and Fernando Garcia, joined in 2022 by Roberto Núñez.

Working just 1.7 hectares of vines on historic terraced vineyards in Ribeiro, central Galicia, with ancient granite soils, A Barouta focuses on local, traditional grape varieties. Cool Atlantic breezes temper the heat of the region and the mountains to the north protect the region to some extent from the high rainfall of coastal Galicia. In the winery the grapes are handled very gently, fermented with just the natural yeasts, and bottled unfined and unfiltered. As a result the wines have a lovely freshness and balance and an almost ethereal lightness of touch.

Our first wine to arrive from A Barouta is Ventoleiro Blanco, a blend of 80% Treixadura and 20% Albariño fermented and aged in a variety of vessels including glass demijohns, concrete, stainless steel and oak barrels.
