2Naturkinder - Wilde Heimat 2017, Franconia, Germany

Michael and Melanie left their corporate jobs behind and started making wine in Michael’s parents’ winery in 2013. After discovering their taste for natural wine, they converted the 6 hectare vineyard to organic practices. They've developed 2Naturkinder, a repertoire of wild delights which are hand-harvested, indigenous-yeasts vinification without sulphur and unfiltered.

This is the third vintage from a vineyard of 40 year old vines of Silvaner they inherited from their friend Stefan Vetter. It's situated at the top of a particularly steep hill that gets loads of sun yet is hard to farm. 2/3 of the grapes are fermented on the skins for a week while the rest was pressed after two days of skin contact.
