Michael and Melanie left their corporate jobs behind and started making wine in Michael’s parents’ winery in 2013. After discovering their taste for natural wine, they converted the 6 hectare vineyard to organic practices. They've developed 2Naturkinder, a repertoire of wild delights which are hand-harvested, indigenous-yeasts vinification without sulphur and unfiltered.

The Fledermaus (German for bat) is taken from a single vineyard of Schwarzriesling, aka Pinot Meunier which is surrounded by a habitat of nature that provides 15 different species of bats space to hunt and thrive. 

Michael and Melanie describe this as neither a classic red nor sparkling but through carbonic maceration they've created the 'glou-glou' style they love. Expect fresh, crunchy red fruits with plenty of minerality and zing.
