Michael and Melanie left their corporate jobs behind and started making wine in Michael’s parents’ winery in 2013. After discovering their taste for natural wine, they converted the 6 hectare vineyard to organic practices. They've developed 2Naturkinder, a repertoire of wild delights which are hand-harvested, indigenous-yeasts vinification without sulphur and unfiltered.

The Black Betty is named after the first sheep born in their vineyards and is a super juicy, glou-glou style light red. The blend has developed and changed with each vintage as Betty grows up but the '22 vintage is a blend of Domina, Regent and a small dose of carbonic Spaturgunder. The Regent bunches are direct pressed and poured over the Domina bunches to add a touch of colour and tannin extraction before being pressed a couple days later. The Domina and Regent are then aged in big ol' oak barrels before being blended with the Spatburgunder.
