Wines made with old wisdom for the Lunar New Year

Wines made with old wisdom for the Lunar New Year

What is an excuse for a pancake and a party and 46 days later moves an ocean for a pilgrimage*? It sounds like a pub quiz question but the celebration of the lunar new year and Mardi Gras, and the timing of the start of lent is a reminder how long lunar cycles have been linked to our calendars and our lives.

Many of the wine growers we work with farm and work in the cellar informed by lunar cycles too, a way of farming that has been carried out for generations. While some biodynamic practices may sound a little crazy, the proof is in the drinking.

Biodynamics is a way of growing wine that goes beyond organic, attempts to use all that the land has to offer, and brings life to the soil. Whatever your opinion of the practice there is no denying that some of the wines produced this way are amongst the most exciting in the world.

In the picture are just seven of the many amazing wines we sell in the shop and serve by the glass at GlouGlou and PetitGlou.

You can also find a mixed case at ironandrose.com with six wines from biodynamic growers, called “the revolution will be dynamised”.

Come and discover a little lunar magic.
