It’s hard to beat Sicily and Southern Italy when it comes to value for money and variety. We’ve been working with Rallo for a decade now (more if you count the years before Iron & Rose…) They specialise in the production of indigenous varieties that express the unique climate and soils of Western Sicily, always farming organically and with a light hand in the cellar. As a producer they date back to 1860 and are masters of traditional Marsala production. But they also make fantastic wines from vineyards near the coast, from the hills above Alcamo and an incredible Passito, a sweet wine from the volcanic soils of Pantelleria.
The wines from the Produttori di Manduria in Puglia are a more recent addition to our shelves but they’ve already won a lot of fans and we’ve just added a new wine to the line up, Elegia, a Riserva Primitivo di Manduria DOC, a big red perfect for cooler weather.
We’ve been fortunate to visit both producers on more than one occasion and were blown away by both producers attention to detail and the great value they offer at every price point, from easy drinker midweek bottles to wines for treats and special occasions.
Find the full range plus loads more from both Sicily and Puglia in the shop in Shrewsbury Market Hall and online at ironandrose.com, and watch out for them by the glass at our bars PetitGlou and GlouGlou.
