Vino Di Anna, Palmentino Rosso, Sicily, Italy
Anna Martens and Eric Narioo have been making wines on the side of Mt Etna since 2008, their wines reflect the individual terroir and is completely biodynamic. Anna and Eric also help protect and farm the rare Sicilian black bee.
The vineyards are located on different Contrada (historic lava flows) and all grapes from the old bush vines are tended to by hand with minimum intervention. A truly natural wine making approach creating super, natural wines.
This super crimson wine is a blend of cuvees, 50% of the blend is wine made in a Palmento; the traditional Etnean winemaking building with only a 5 day skin maceration. 30% is wine made in a Georgian qvevri, with a one month skin maceration and the remaining 20% of the blend is a wine fermented and aged in a large, used, oak botte.
This wine is a treat when chilled down slightly, well balanced fruit flavours of cherry and wild strawberries, ripe tannins and fresh acidity making this a juice bomb! Great with salty meats, fish and vibrant salads.
