La Niverdiere, Renaissance, 2015, Chinon, Loire, France
Recently we and some of the @glouglou_sy1 team, crowded round the screen, having a zoom tasting, learning about a new producer, La Niverdiere, trying wines from three different sites and multiple vintages.
All wines made in the same way by the same person from the same grape variety but showing subtle and beautiful variations from vintage to vintage and site to site.
Amazing stuff and a real privilege for us to experience.
Martine Budé has been making wine in Chinon , Loire, France since 2015. Her wines demonstrate all that’s great about natural wines - purity, energy, charm, and an undeniable expression of place and time, fruit and soil.
We’ve got limited stock of two of Martine’s first wines from 2015 from two sites, called Palimpseste and Renaissance. Why not treat yourself (or your wine-nerd friend or fam) to a bottle of each to drink and enjoy the magic that real wine brings?
This wine, Renaissance, was grown on limestone, gravel, clay soils giving a more approachable, easier driving style of wine. And this particular vintage was aged in a concrete egg-shaped vessel for six years before bottling and release (in contrast to the Palimpseste which has been aged in bottle). The result is a wine that is beautifully mature, with floral notes on the nose, touches of herb and brambly, smoky, developed flavours on the palate.Producer - La Niverdiere, Martine Budé
