Celler El Masroig, Sola Fred Blanco, Montsant, Spain

We have another CoOperative to add to our growing list. Cellar El Masroig has been established in Catalunya since 1917. An association of grape and olive growers with around 300 members, they all focus on quality over quantity and with young wine maker Carlos Escolar in the winery they are able to produce some great Montsant wines at all price ranges.

The Macabao (60%) and Grenache Blanc (40%) that goes into this wine are all grown around the winery and the environment really contributes to this wine. Grown between 100 and 350 mtrs in poor clay and limestone and dry, hot summers in the mediterranean climate.

The grapes are hand harvested into small crates and fermentation takes place in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks where it ages on the lees for 3 months before bottling.

This wine is easy to drink with an elegant simplicity full of tropical fruits.
